Sazerac Rye Whiskey Recipe

Sazerac rye slowly becomes the most popular rye around. Mixing it is a ritual in itself, and drinking it is an unforgettable experience.

It doesn’t get much more american than that.

Sazerac rye whiskey recipe. In a mixing glass, combine whiskey, syrup and bitters; Stir with ice until well chilled. Add the 1 1/2 ounces of sazerac rye whiskey to the peychaud’s bitters and sugar.

This very old recipe uses a very long pour of rye, a sugar cube soaked in bitters, and a hint of anise liqueur. Empty the ice from the first glass and coat the glass with 1/4 ounce of herbsaint, then discard the remaining herbsaint. Add rye and ice and stir.

If you want the original recipe, you can substitute the rye whiskey for cognac, or even mix about an ounce of rye and cognac and follow the rest of the recipe as written.
